Release Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, plan, and maintain the release roadmap for one or more applications
  • Manage release and deployment planning and coordinate multiple parallel releases
  • Plan and oversee go-live and post-go-live activities to ensure smooth production deployments
  • Coordinate and track change activities throughout the release lifecycle
  • Lead release decision meetings to obtain stakeholder approval at key release milestones
  • Organize and facilitate handover sessions between development and operations teams
  • Improve release efficiency and quality by introducing automation, DevOps practices, and modern release orchestration techniques
  • Collaborate with the central releasing team to ensure alignment with enterprise release management standards

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology or a related discipline
  • 7+ years of experience in IT project management, release management, or deployment coordination
  • Proven experience working with release or deployment processes, preferably within the banking or financial services sector
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies such as Scrum and SAFe
  • Experience working with ITIL-based processes, including incident, problem, and change management
  • Practical experience with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices and a basic understanding of DevOps ways of working
  • Ability to identify and manage risks related to release processes
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders
  • Solid technical mindset enabling effective interaction with development teams and the creation or validation of deployment runbooks
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Proactive, accountable, and adaptable approach to work
  • Flexibility to support release events outside standard working hours when required

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with release orchestration tools such as Helix or Digital.ai
  • Previous experience working within Nordea or a similar large-scale financial organization
